21 January 2010
Brewin Dolphin, one of the largest private client investment managers in the UK, has strengthened its charity division with the appointment of Lynne Lamont, as its first Head of Charities for Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Lynne joins Brewin Dolphin with over 12 years of experience as a fund manager for Newton Investment Management, where she was integral in building up a business that managed assets of over £250 million for Scottish charities. Beginning her career in 1997, Lynne has managed funds for charities, private individuals, family trusts and pension funds.
Based at Brewin Dolphin in Edinburgh, Lynne’s new role will be to manage the charity business within the office as well as providing expertise, assistance and guidance to the seven offices across Scotland and Northern Ireland. Furthermore she will contribute strategic input to Brewin Dolphin’s investment strategy and its National asset allocation committee offering support to fund managers on stock selection and portfolio construction around the UK.
As part of a commitment to the development of its charity business, Brewin Dolphin has identified four centres of charity excellence across its UK business. Lynne will play an integral role in collaborating with these hubs to provide a consistent and high quality service to charities throughout the UK.
Commenting on her appointment Lynne said, “I am delighted to join Brewin Dolphin and am very excited about being part of a larger team which aims to lead the way in developing the charity investment business. “My focus is to inject fresh ideas and thinking to Brewin Dolphin’s current charities provision whilst continuing to provide a high-level of bespoke service to existing charity clients; as well as developing this service to attract new charities to Brewin Dolphin.”
Henry Algeo, Regional Director of Scotland and Northern Ireland said: “We are delighted to welcome someone of Lynne’s calibre to the team. I have no doubt that her knowledge and expertise of the charity sector and her experience working as a Trustee of the Carnegie UK Trust will help Brewin Dolphin remain at the forefront of charity investment. “We are committed to growing our presence in the charity sector and this appointment goes a long way towards us achieving our aspirations.”
