Brewin Dolphin appoints new Head of Office in Belfast

20 November 2008

Hal Catherwood has been appointed head of office for the Belfast branch of Brewin Dolphin, the largest independent private client investment manager in the UK.

Hal joined Brewin Dolphin in 2005, helping set up the office in Belfast with Henry Algeo and Randal Herron. The team previously worked for local broker Cunningham Coates.

Henry Algeo has been appointed Regional Managing Director for the Scottish and Irish region, hence Hal’s appointment as Head of the Belfast office.

The Belfast branch, which has a team of seventeen investment managers and support staff, provides a broad range of services to clients and charities, principally discretionary investment management and also including advisory services. Since 2005, the team has built valuable relationships with a growing number of IFAs around the province, extending the group’s expertise in SIPP and IHT relief provision; developing the services these advisers can offer to their clients.

Commenting on his appointment, Hal Catherwood said: “I am delighted to take on this position and I am confident that the team here can continue and develop upon the excellent work achieved over the last three years. I’m very much looking forward to taking up the challenge of my new role."

Brewin Dolphin is the largest independent private client portfolio manager in the UK managing approximately £20 billion of funds for 130,000 private clients, charities and pension funds. Brewin Dolphin has 39 offices across the UK and Channel Islands.
